Grand Opening Tomorrow!

grandopening3Grand Opening Invitation

Saturday, May 10th is a big day for First Choice and owner, Wade Rinehart. Please join us from 3:00 – 6:00pm at Village of Grand Panama on Hutchison Blvd, between Shipwreck Island and Edgewater Resort.

We will have some snacks, cold soda and water. We have decorated a couple of the empty units at Village of Grand Panama so that you can cool off. Mayor Gayle Oberst is joining us for the ribbon cutting in front of First Choice Physical Therapy at 3:30pm. Todd Harrington is giving us some Elvis entertainment next to the fountain. Hess Entertainment is bringing Garth Brook’s old tour bus over so you can see how the Country singer had to rough it on the road. We have a Hawaiian theme everywhere in honor of our Hawaiian shirt Fridays.

Wade has even more to be happy about. It’s his 40TH Birthday!! So put on a Hawaiian shirt and come tell him Happy Birthday and get a tour of our newest clinic!

Our New Neighbors at Village of Grand Panama

Bonefish, Another Broken Egg, First Choice Physical Therapy, REMax AdvantageWe were looking for an area of professional offices, centrally located in Panama City Beach and if it had a place to eat close by that would be a plus. Village ofGrand Panama had all of that! We even liked the fact that there is room for other professionals needing a similar location! WR Property Management (nice folks 850-303-2835) tells us that there is a build out about to start for another Doctor. Exciting times! We are hoping that the other spaces available will continue to be taken by professionals from all types of fields. Medical, dental, accounting, lending, banking, real estate, travel agency, lawyer, day spa… really any professionals needing about 1500 sqft (or more) that would like to be in a stylish center not surrounded by retail shops.

Our neighbors in Village of Grand Panama on Hutchison Blvd are Dr. Ken Finch, Mason Title, RE/Max Advantage, Hess Entertainment, Another Broken Egg and Bonefish. We chose to move to Village of Grand Panama for more than one reason, but near the top of the list would have to be our neighbors!

What is love?

Happy Valentines Day

Since it is Valentines Day I want to talk about “What is Love?”Happy V day

“What is love? Baby don’t hurt me! Don’t hurt me! No more!” Quote from a song by Haddaway.

Love was the most searched phrase on Google in 2012, according to the company. I wanted to do my own search about love and found a website called the guardian which I will attempt to summarize quickly for you. They had experts in the fields of science, psychotherapy, literature, religion and philosophy to give their definition of what love is.

The physicist says: ‘Love is chemistry’– Love involves chemicals like (pheromones, dopamine, norepinephrine, serotonin, oxytocin and vasopressin) all acting in biological order to produce a powerful neurological response.

The psychotherapist says: ‘Love has many guises’ – Defining love in its different entities as follows:love
Philia-friendship love; Ludus-playful or flirting love; Pragma-mature love developed over time between couple; Agape-generalized love like a love for humanity; Philautia-loving oneself or self acceptance
and the ever so popular and troublsome ‘Eros’-sexual passion and desire. I think it was Bill Clinton who said “to eros is human”. Not sure though.

be mineThe Philosopher says: ‘Love is a passionate commitment’– all love is a kind a passionate commitment that we nurture and develop. That’s why it is more than just a powerful feeling. Without the commitment, it is mere infatuation. Without the passion, it is mere dedication. Without nurturing, even the best can wither and die. Deep right?

The romantic novelist: ‘Love drives all great stories’ – Love is the driver for all great stories: not just romantic love, but the love of parent for child, for family, for country. Mushy?

heart
The nun: ‘Love is free yet binds us’ – Love is more easily experienced than defined. As a theological virtue, by which we love God above all things and our neighbor’s as ourselves for his sake. We express love in acts of kindness, generosity and self-sacrifice. Love’s the one thing that can never hurt anyone, although it may cost dearly. The paradox of love is that it is supremely free yet attaches us with bonds stronger than death. It cannot be bought or sold; there is nothing it cannot face; love is life’s greatest blessing. My favorite definition.

Too much pressureThe Physical Therapist: Love is a four letter word that we use to answer other four letter words, that slip off the lips of patients who sometimes suffer from another four letter word – called pain. So when we tell our patients that the current pain we are inflicting is really just tough love, often times the patients’ response is, in a high pitched voice, sometimes, but not always in tune, “What is Love? Baby don’t hurt me! Don’t hurt me! no more!”

A famous song that depicts love as being some sort of painful experience is probably not the best advertisement for a Physical Therapy company. However, Physical Therapy does not have to be painful. As a matter of fact, most of our patients experience quite the opposite. Our job is to get rid of the pain as fast and effectively as modern science allows.

Only 6 miles from this sign…

First Choice Physical Therapy 15th St @ Transmitter Rd

If you drive on 15th Street through the intersection at Transmitter you may just see our new sign on the digital billboard close to the southwest corner, right across from the Raceway gas station. We get to change it out as often as we like, but we are starting out with a simple message: “Our Physical Therapy Is Worth The Drive. Only 6 Miles From This Sign”. If you happen to live in that part of Bay County then the simplest directions are to drive on 15th Street to Jenks Ave and turn left. We are just before the Tom Thumb at Hwy 390.

To be frank about it, we think we have the best therapists and the best support staff giving you an unbeatable experience when you need physical therapy. We just wanted to make sure that those of you living in Springfield, Parker or Callaway knew how close we are to you. From your first phone call to our Patient Liaison, to online pre-registration, to meeting the therapist for your evaluation and the subsequent care visits you will know that we care about you and that we are at the top of our game in delivering the very best we can.

In future messages we will relieve any anxiety you may have about a trip to the Physical Therapist by breaking down what you can expect.

On time care

8Here at First Choice Physical Therapy, we value our patients above all else, which we hope is evident from the time you walk in our door to the time you leave. One of the ways in which First Choice tries to emphasize our attentiveness to patient care as well as the importance of the relationships formed with our patients, is to always have you back in the gym on time for each and every appointment you make. First Choice understands that sitting for long periods of time in a waiting room can make any experience tedious, and we pride ourselves on making sure everyone that comes in our door is attended to as quickly as possible. Your participation in this effort is welcome, by showing up on time (or even early!), for your appointments, as it allows us to ensure you are seen as soon as possible. As always, we are thankful for each and everyone of our patients who has seen fit to choose First Choice for their physical therapy needs!

Have you seen the new sign?

Very close to the first of May, First Choice Physical Therapy put up a new sign on our Hwy 390 border. It is a digital sign which allows us to display as many different images as we need to help get our message out to those of you we have never had a chance to meet. It is not only for ads though! For those of you that have to spend too much time trying to get thru the Jenks Avenue intersection, we have been running a “Laughter is the best medicine” campaign. If you find yourself stuck there watch for them, they come immediately after the Temp and Time slides. Here is one of our favorites…

Our sign was installed by Crow Sign Company (www.CrowSignCompany.com). Owner Steve Crow took great care of us and their work is top notch, high quality! If you do drive by you will see what we mean. Crow Signs designed and built everything that surrounds the digital sign.
